Grappling

Grappling here is the mat work that does not need a cage to make sense: control, clinch, and the strength to keep a position once you have it. Two fighters carry the file. Islam Makhachev’s camp is built on wrestling and sambo, with kickboxing added so the fight can start standing. Alex Pereira is filed here as well because the MMA week around his striking still has to deal with cage control and grappling exchanges.

If you want a coach’s view of Brazilian jiu-jitsu rather than a fighter’s whole camp, Dillon Danis is the next read. He sits in the MMA hub and in the McGregor series, because that is the camp he shaped. The wrestling hub is Makhachev again, narrowed to the shots and the chain wrestling.

Fight skills collects every striking and grappling breakdown in one list when you are comparing styles. Conditioning is the other half: uphill sprints and long rounds only matter if the grip is still there at the end.

Start with Islam Makhachev on the mat — wrestling and sambo as the spine of the camp.
